NMIT Library was set up to provide excellent resources, services and facilities to support learning, teaching, research and consultancy activities by NMIT.

As the best knowledge center, NMIT Library shares the University’s aspiration to be the most dynamic learning environment in the maritime field.

 

MISSION

To provide quality, a cost-effective library, information and learning services and facilities to support teaching, learning, research and consultancy activities in NMIT.

 

To fulfill this mission, the Library commits to the following roles:

 

• Identify and develop information resources and provide easy access to the learning resources and information services required to support the learning, teaching and research activities of NMIT;

• Build collections and create tools to support research, teaching, and learning;

• Create hospitable physical and virtual environments for study, teaching and research;

• Collaborate with other members of NMIT to enrich the research and learning community;

• Assisting in the delivery of the curriculum through:the provision of resources, information and knowledge to support student-learning;the provision of library facilities to enable students to use the library for learning at their own pace and at a time appropriate to them;the provision and delivery of information skills/ user-education programmes

• Providing information and reading materials to the academic staff to assist in deliver the curriculum;

• Providing information and reading materials to assist the NMIT management team to make the best decisions;

• Providing programmes and activities to encourage lifelong learning amongst its communities;

• Develop competencies of the library staff to ensure delivery of quality services;

• Develop effective marketing strategies to promote library services; and

• Collaborate, affiliate and cooperate with other libraries worldwide to promote resource sharing.
